Communiques:

My life started as a true Albertan when I was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta of protestant parents. Upon graduation I worked in advertising for the Medicine Hat News and later trained and worked in the medical field. At the age of 19 I converted to Catholicism and my home parish became the beautiful St. Patrick’s Church. As most of you, my story is long and involved but I will hit the high spots.

My husband’s job took us to Brooks in 1968. Andy and I have been married for 46 years and have four children and three grandchildren. During much of that time I became a stay-at-home mom but carrying out the tasks and opportunities of being the out-of home-mom being the brownie mom, cub mom, figure skating mom, etc. When my last child started school I decided to get back into the work force and worked in the local education system being placed in three different schools, setting up the office in two of the new schools.

My husband decided to purchase a business as well as being involved in his own job. My life changed as I became a business co-owner and manager of a sporting goods store. This new job for me became a 25 year business experience involving the opening of a second operation being a ladies/men’s clothing store.

My community life as a business owner/operator led me to serving as Retail Director and Hospitality Director of the local Chamber of Commerce. When the BRZ (Downtown Business Assoc.) became active I served as the Secretary and Director for 8 years.

As a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Brooks I was blessed to be able to teach Sacrament Preparation courses, serve on a Priest Formation Committee, coordinate the Stewardship Fair, serve as Parish Liasion to St. Joseph’s Collegiate, serve as Coordinator for Funeral Ministry. I sing in the choir and I am a lector.

In our local CWL Council I have held every position except Spiritual and Treasurer. My Presidency was 4.5 years but served as interim two or three times. I was Medicine Hat Regional President for 4.5 years, CWL Chair Foundation Director for 5 years, CWL Chair Foundation Secretary for 2 years. Calgary Diocesan Executive – Communication Chair, Recording Secretary, Vice President/Resolutions Chair.

I am presently our council Organization Chair, Communications and Resolution Chair & a Team Captain.

Spare time – Love to travel, scrapbook, garden, dance, golf, sing in inter-denominational choir, visit seniors/shut-ins.

I am a grassroots kind of girl! Attack projects with great passion and after a six-year commitment, two years off, my heart tells me I want to serve you once again.
