Suzanne Sherry
I was born the 4th child of 6 in Lachine, Quebec. I attended English school, at Resurrection of Our Lord School, although we always spoke French in family settings – especially with our father. I joined the workforce in 1965 in various clerical positions – mostly secretarial functions.
My life journey thus far, has included so many blessings – particularly those of love & family.
In 1971, I married my wonderful husband Al and we began our own family in 1972. We are proud parents of 3 sons, Stuart 38, Patrick 36 (now deceased), and Cameron 32. We are grandparents to 6 terrific children, 2 of whom are actually our step-grandchildren. We moved to Calgary in 1975 so only one of our children is a “real” cowboy!
When our children were old enough, I returned to the workforce as a Library Assistant with the Calgary Board of Education. I attended many classes at U of C then later at SAIT in the Library & Information Technology program. I am currently retired from the Board, although I am on their “temp” roster and continue to accept assignments as needed.
We have always belonged to St.Mark’s parish. Historically, I have held various positions on the St.Mark CWL council executive and currently I am the Spiritual chair. I also serve our parish by being a member of the Parish Pastoral Council as well as assisting on the Financial Committee. I continue to serve our parishioners as Eucharistic Minister and am also Parish Ecumenical Rep (PER). Our parish has recently undergone major renovating and I have assisted in various areas with the extreme amount of work required.
At the diocesan level, I was the Community Life Chair until the last Diocesan election when I became the President-Elect/Organization chair for our Diocese. I look forward to serving my Parish, my community, and all of my wonderful Sisters in the League for the Glory of God and the good of our magnificent Country.
